CACTICIES
We tend to forget that cacti are flowering plants. Like many succulent plants, the particularity of the cactus lies in its capacity to store “juice” in its tissues, thus allowing it to survive several consecutive days without water supply.
We owe the discovery of cacti in Europe to Christopher Columbus, who brought back a specimen during one of his trips to the Mantilles.
Today we count nearly 2500 species, divided into 90 genera. The cactus can adopt 6 very different forms: flattened, globular, columnar or climbing.
The atypical morphology of cacti comes from their adaptation to their living environment. The thorns are useful as protection against animals but they also allow to catch the morning dew, rather practical for a plant living in arid regions. Did you know that the cactus contracts during periods of drought to protect itself from the heat and conversely expands during wet periods to capture a maximum of water? Some cacti also produce fruit, notably the prickly pear, whose fruit is edible.
What size should I choose for a cactus comforter cover?
The size of your comforter and therefore of your cactus comforter cover will depend, first of all, on the size of your mattress. Thus, for a standard size single bed, i.e. with a 90 cm by 190 or 200 cm mattress, the right size of your bed linen will be a 140 X 200 model. The cover should be the same size. Concerning the beds for 2 people, we find ourselves with, 3 cases of figure: a bedding of 140 X 190 known as standard, one of 160 X 200 called queen size or the king size, that is to say a bed base of 180 X 200. The ideal is to have a comforter cover that overflows enough on each side of the bed. Other criteria to take into account are the height of your bed, the build of the sleepers and their propensity to move. Indeed, for people with restless sleep, it is recommended to opt for a model of 240 X 220. On the other hand, if your bed is close to the ground, prefer a 200 X 200 set. For a queen size, a 240 X 220 will fit, as well as 260 X 240 comforter covers. If you have a king size bed, only the largest comforters will fit for optimal comfort.
Softness of the fabric
The polyester fabric, of the microfiber type, has been selected for our sets because it has many advantages. Indeed, it benefits from a great flexibility that the so-called natural fibers such as cotton or linen do not have, which can sometimes be rough. This elasticity gives it a great softness. Thus, your comforter cover will always remain pleasant to the touch and cozy. This will also be the case for all your bed linen, sheets, fitted sheets, pillowcases or bolster covers which will be made of this material, or of pure organic cotton. This is all the more important for linens intended for a child’s bed.
No wrinkles
Synthetic fibers, such as polyester or microfiber, offer many qualities. They are much easier to maintain than satin, cotton sateen, flannel or percale. The flexibility of this fabric allows it to unfold easily. No more ironing! You can install your comforter cover directly on your bedding with its pillowcase or pillowcases in the case of a double bed, and you will obtain a magnificent result, without any folds that could spoil the decorative effect of your bed linen. In the same way, in the morning, your comforter and its cover will be laid out as on the first day with a simple tap.
Composition of the cover
Your cactus comforter cover is a superior quality product. Indeed, its seams are reinforced, in order to guarantee its solidity. Its texture is made of high density polyester, microfiber type. The choice of this material allows your printed cover, even reversible, to keep its colors and patterns intact. It is also what gives it its softness and facilitates its maintenance. As a reminder, there is no need to iron it. All our bed sets, with or without flat sheet, have the same characteristics and will match easily with any plain fitted sheet.
