WHAT IS A FEATHER?
This natural element forming the plumage of birds amazes by the diversity of its colors and patterns. From an anatomical point of view, the most is mainly composed of beta-keratin, a protein responsible for the formation of our nails and hair. Feathers have several functions: they allow birds to fly, to camouflage themselves, to regulate their body temperature or to strut their stuff during their courtship. Peacocks are the most recognized birds for their majestic feathers during these charming ceremonies. Ornithologists can, from a simple feather, determine the age, the sex, the species of a bird but also its state of health.

THE SYMBOL OF THE FEATHER IN HISTORY
It is difficult to determine exactly when the first feathers appeared in human culture. The Egyptians are credited with using the ostrich feather as a symbol of war. Soldiers wore some on their helmets to remind them of the fighting spirit of this giant bird. The Greeks and Romans took over this custom later on. Native American tribes used feathers for decorative purposes or to distinguish social ranks. The most famous example is the headdress of the tribal chief, entirely covered with bird feathers. Feathers adorned musical instruments, artworks and clothing. Surprisingly, it was in the late 19th century that feathers were most used for ornamental purposes. The fashion of the time having seized these natural elements to highlight hats and jackets. The industrialization even gave birth to the word “plumasserie” to designate any activity aimed at bringing feathers on clothes.

Softness of the fabric
Polyester fabric, of the microfiber type, has been selected for our sets because it has many advantages. Indeed, it benefits from a great flexibility that the so-called natural fibers such as cotton or linen, which can sometimes be rough, do not have. This elasticity gives it a great softness. Thus, your comforter cover will always remain pleasant to the touch and cozy. This will also be the case for all your bed linen, sheets, fitted sheets, pillowcases or bolster covers which will be made of this material, or of pure organic cotton. This is all the more important for linens intended for a child’s bed.

No wrinkles
Synthetic fibers, such as polyester or microfiber, offer many qualities. They are much easier to maintain than satin, cotton sateen, flannel or percale. The flexibility of this fabric allows it to unfold easily. No more ironing! You can install your comforter cover directly on your bedding with its pillowcase or pillowcases in the case of a double bed, and you will obtain a magnificent result, without folds that spoil the decorative effect of your bed linen. In the same way, in the morning, your comforter and its cover will be arranged as on the first day with a simple tap.
